Two-material liquid silicone rubber molding

Bringing multi-material molding to the market of liquid silicone rubber, Engel is introducing its two-material liquid injection molding (LIM) technology. By combining two different grades of LSR, the process makes it possible to accommodate two different colors or two different durometers (hard/soft applications) to produce a multi-textured or multi-colored part. Engel’s 300-ton LIM toggle machine comes with dual injection units, both fully integrated into the machine control. The machine features a special moving platen configuration that includes a reciprocating indexing shaft to drive the mold tree, demolding and moving parts into the second mold half.

LSR molding offers molders better production parameters, like improved flow characteristics, resulting in faster cycle times. LSR’s material properties make it possible to manufacture complex, stress-free parts while eliminating problems like mold flashing. LSR can withstand extreme heat and cold.
