Custom molder and contract manufacturer Plextron Inc., based in Toronto, has acquired multi-component molding capability in the past year, according to president Dave McQueen. McQueen says the company has purchased two multi-component injection molding machines, an HPM and an Engel. The machines will be used to mold a variety of multi-material parts, such as automotive lenses with two colors, or parts requiring overmolding with a TPE.
"We’ve already picked up new business with the machines," said McQueen at the recent Society of Automotive Engineers show in Detroit, where Plextron was exhibiting. "Most of our growth in the past few years has been in automotive."
McQueen said he was pleased with number of visitors to Plextron’s booth, which was part of the larger Canadian pavilion at the SAE show.
"It’s been great for us. We’ve made lots of contacts."
