With a series of customer training sessions, Nova Scotia-based machinery supplier GN Thermoforming Equipment has opened its new, relocated sales and technical centre in the Czech Republic.

The training centre is located in Jihlava, Czech Republic, and the three customer training sessions drew more than 60 participants, including end users and processors from Western and Central Europe, Russia, India, and the Middle East. GN recently relocated from nearby offices to the new, larger 11,000-square-foot facility in Jihlava, which is about two hours from Vienna, Austria, and one hour from Prague.

“We were thrilled with the turnout and the positive response,” said Jerome Romkey, GN’s business development manager. “The training and demonstration centre is an important sales tool that offers great value in helping customers access the technology and make decisions.”

GN opened the original sales and technical service centre in Jihlava just over two years ago. The Chester, N.S.-based company made its first entry into the Czech Republic more than 14 years ago in a bid to tap into the growing packaging business in Europe and Russia.

According to Romkey, the new larger facility is designed to help GN expand its business in the region, support its customers, and penetrate new growth opportunities. “We’re happy with the steady growth we’ve seen; this expansion will take us to the next level and position us for further growth in key markets,” he said.

The sales and technical service centre currently has a staff of nine employees.

GN manufactures servo-driven, roll-fed thermoforming machines for the production of food packaging.
