UK-based materials testing equipment supplier Malvern Instruments Ltd. has opened its first office in Canada.
The move to Canada follows a years-long cooperative partnership between Malvern and Mississauga, Ont.-based Spectra Research Company.
The new Malvern Instruments Canada is located in Montreal.
“Establishing direct operations through Malvern Instruments Canada is an exciting development,” said Brian Dutko, president of the company’s American office, Malvern Instruments Inc., headquartered in Westborough, Mass. “Malvern’s business in North America is enjoying rapid growth and the Canadian market has always been very important to us. The new organization offers many new benefits including support and training delivered directly by Malvern, and a more streamlined procurement process for purchasing consumables and accessories.”
The senior manager of the Canadian office hasn’t been determined yet, Dutko added; for the present, Dutko will head the operation.
The company manufactures rotational and capillary rheometers, frequently used to characterize the molecular architecture and processing characteristics of polymer/plastic materials. In addition, its line of Viscotek GPC products is used for measuring absolute molecular weight of polymeric materials.
