Testing equipment manufacturer Malvern Instruments Limited has acquired some of the assets of Swedish rheology company Reologica Instruments AB.

 

“This acuisition gives Malvern access to additional technologies and intellectual property that will support the continued development of our own rheology business,” said Paul Walker, managing director of UK-based Malvern Instruments. “Reologica Instruments has been involved in the design and manufacture of rheometers and associated accessories for more than 20 years and there is a wealth of knowledge in the business.”

Key members of the Lund, Sweden-based Reologica team are expected to transfer to Malvern Instruments as a result of the deal, Walker continued.  Terms of the purchase have not been disclosed. 

 

Malvern Instruments provides a range of complementary materials characterization tools, including equipment used in the characterization of materials from industrial bulk powders to nanomaterials and delicate macromolecules.

 

Malvern Instruments has subsidiary organizations in all major European markets, North America, China, Korea and Japan, a joint venture in India, a global distributor network and applications laboratories around the world. The company is represented in Canada by Mississauga, Ont.-based Spectra Research Corporation.
