Viva Magnetics (Canada) Ltd. has built a new 136,000 sq. ft. facility in Toronto it will use to injection mold polystyrene jewel boxes used to hold CDs. The facility, which began operation in early August, houses 28 injection molding machines with clamping forces of 260 tons and represents a total investment of US$20 million for the Hong Kong based owner, Tony Choi. The plant will initially employ 30 to 40 people. When it reaches full production capacity the facility will have 10 dual production lines capable of making 36 million PS jewel boxes monthly and 12 single lines capable of making up to 40 million PS internal trays monthly. Viva Magnetics Canada also operates a 110,000 sq. ft. plant in Delta, British Columbia that employs 90 people.
