Over the next three years, DuPont Dow Elastomers will triple its production for Engage polyolefin elastomers, the company has recently announced. The capacity increase will be accomplished by a combination of incremental expansions at the existing Freeport, TX site and the construction of a new 300 million lb/yr facility to be located in the U.S. Gulf coast. Groundbreaking for the new plant is expected to be in early 2001. The company said the expansion is necessary to meet the demands of current and future customers. Since the introduction of Engage in 1994, demand has doubled each year, on an annual basis, according to the company.
