DuPont Dow starts up new elastomer plant

DuPont Dow Elastomers have produced the first commercial quantities of the company’s Engage polyolefin elastomer at its new 300 million lb./year facility in Plaquemine, LA.. With the new plant, the company now has over 500 million lb./year worldwide capacity for Engage. Introduced nine years ago, Engage has become the company fastest growing product line.
Concurrent with the opening of the new manufacturing plant, DuPont Dow announced it is broadening the polymer’s family with six new grades to produced at that facility starting in the second half of 2003. The new grades will primarily be ethylene butene based complimenting the existing ethylene octene compositions.
