CPIA Atlantic named Tony Sampson its 2002 Industry Leader at its annual meeting and luncheon. Sampson is project engineer at RPS Inc. located in Mahone Bay, NS, as well as chairman of the region’s Composite Committee. Executive director for CPIA’s Atlantic Region, Duncan Cross, says Sampson has become the principal spokesperson for the composites industry, and has been very involved with the issue of threshold limit values on styrene in Atlantic Canada. He has given several formal presentations to the governments of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, and led and participated in numerous industry awareness workshops.

“Tony has shown leadership and vision for the industry, a principal criteria for the Award,” says Cross.

Sampson’s company, Reinforced Plastics Systems, has been at its present location in Mahone Bay, NS for over 100 years. In more recent years the company switched from making boats to manufacturing filament-wound, glass-fibre pipe.
