The Atlantic region of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA) has awarded Sandy Marshall, of Mahone Bay, N.S.-based fiberglass manufacturer Reinforced Plastics Systems Inc. (RPS), with the Plastics & Composites Leader of the Year Award for 2006.
Marshall was presented with the award at a luncheon held on Dec. 7 in Halifax, N.S., and attended by industry insiders from across Atlantic Canada and the Eastern U.S.
According to the CPIA, the award honours the individual who has shown leadership and vision over a career-long commitment to the plastics/composites industry of Atlantic Canada.
Honourable mention at the ceremony went to two other Atlantic individuals for their industry contributions: John Steel of Petite Riviere, N.S. boat manufacturer Covey Island Boatworks; and David Sawler of Cape Breton, N.S.-based Copol International Ltd., which manufactures cast polypropylene (CPP) film products.
