Leistritz will host its’ Pharmaceutical-Nutraceutical Extrusion Seminar on June 6-7, 2018 that will focus on the latest melt extrusion and granulation technologies for pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products.  This “hands-on” seminar starts with the basics and explains why the continuous twin screw extrusion process is the preferred manufacturing method to make a consistent and repeatable dosage delivery mechanism.  Some of the topics include:

• Twin screw extrusion theory and design: co-rotating and counterrotating
• Screw and process section fundamentals
• Upstream and downstream technologies
• Die design and computer modelling
• Staging of unit operations to facilitate continuous mixing and drying
• Scale-up of the extrusion process- R&D, pilot scale and production
• Cleaning and maintenance of extrusion equipment in a cGMP environment
• Equipment and process validation practices and documentation
• Advantages of continuous extrusion as compared to batch processes
• New emerging extrusion technologies, i.e. supercritical foaming and in-line drying
