Car, truck and auto component manufacturer DaimlerChrysler has appointed Reid Bigland president and CEO of DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc.
Bigland, 40, will be responsible for all Chrysler Group sales and marketing activities in Canada. He replaces Steven J. Landry, who has been named vice president, sales & field operations, Chrysler Group, for the U.S. market.
“Reid Bigland’s 18 years of experience in the Canadian and U.S. transportation business, including management positions in sales, dealer operations and labour operations, lines up well with the opportunities and challenges facing DaimlerChrysler Canada,” Joe Eberhardt, Chrysler Group vice president, global sales, marketing and service, said.
Born in Kamloops, B.C., Bigland began his career with Canadian Airlines International in 1988. In 1997, he joined the Canadian commercial truck company Western Star Trucks, which eventually became part of DaimlerChrysler’s Freightliner organization.
Bigland will work out of DaimlerChrysler Canada’s corporate headquarters in Windsor, Ont.
DaimlerChrysler Canada is the third-largest manufacturer and wholesaler of passenger cars, trucks and automotive components in the Canadian auto industry, with a total workforce of 11,000.
