Washington, DC-based trade group the Plastics Industry Association (PLASTICS) has hired a new director of state government affairs.

Shannon Crawford will lead PLASTICS’ state government affairs, developing relationships with state government and private sector stakeholders and advocating for PLASTICS and the industry at the state and local levels.

“Shannon Crawford is a proven government affairs professional with a background that will serve our industry and association well,” said Scott DeFife, PLASTICS vice president of government affairs. “She is poised to effectively launch our new, proactive efforts to expand recycling and energy recovery at the state and local level.”

Crawford has over a decade of experience in association management. Most recently, she served as state legislative advocate at the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) where she was responsible for analyzing and advocating for relevant state legislative bills and regulations. Prior to her tenure at NASBP, Crawford served as manager of legislative and industry affairs at the Design-Build Institute of America, and as manager of government affairs at the Solid Waste Association of North America.
