In a bid to expand its global footprint, packaging supplier Coveris Holdings has acquired Learoyd Packaging (Holdings) Ltd., said to be one of the UK’s leading flexographic print specialists.
The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
Learoyd, based in Burnley, England, had US$33 million in sales during 2013 and makes flexible packaging for a range of top British retail brands including Seabrook Crisps, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer.
The purchase comes on the heels of Coveris’ recent acquisition of St Neots Packaging Ltd., a leading manufacturer of plastic film-lined cartonboard packaging for the food-to-go and convenience markets.
Headquartered in Chicago, Coveris is said to be the sixth largest global plastic packaging company in the world. Formed in 2013 by the combination of Exopack, Britton Group, Kobusch, PACCOR and Paragon Print & Packaging, the company reported revenues of more than US$2.8 billion, and has 64 plants across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and China.
