According to statistics from consulting and research firm CIMdata Inc. (Ann Arbor, MI), the leading vendor based on sales of numerical-control (NC) software and related services in 2000 was IBM/Dassault, which captured 16.2% of the market. IBM/Dassault offers the CATIA product line.
The statistics are part of CIMdata’s “NC software and related services market assessment report.” Also in that report, CIMdata concludes that UGS was the fastest growing CAM software vendor in 2000. CIMdata projects that UGS will attain double-digit growth in 2001 and will continue to be one of the fastest growing CAM software vendors.
