Molding perfect micro-structured components requires a high-precision molding machine and special process control conditions, according to Battenfeld. The company has developed a package that consists of a servo-electric injection molding machine equipped with Vario-Mold.
The basic principle of variotherm process control used by Vario-Mold includes heating the mold to near melt temperature shortly before injection of the resin, which ensures the flow characteristics of the resin are maintained until the mold is filled. The mold is then cooled to demolding temperature.
The Vario-Mold module is integrated into the injection molding machine and operates with up to 26 heating circuits to heat up the mold.
