Elastomers with improved bond strength to nylon have been developed by J-Von.

“The adhesive bonds of this 55 Shore A elastomer to nylon 6 are stonger than the cohesive strength of our competitors’ elastomers,” says Edwin Tam, J-Von’s vice-president of engineered elastomers. “We are filling a need from industry for an overmolding grade for nylon 6 that does not require pre-heating the insert or substrate.”

This J-Bond grade is the first of several developments for overmolding from J-Von. The company will soon introduce overmolding grades for ABS, polycarbonate and ABS-polycarbonate blends.

The J-Bond elastomers are highly colorable, and are resistant to heat aging and chemicals.
