The Canadian Tooling and Machine Association has entered into an agreement with Human Resources Development Canada to sponsor a pre-apprenticeship training program in Windsor, Ont. The training program, called Moulding Youth for Industry, will train up to 20 young people in preparation for entry into apprenticeship programs for tool and die makers, moldmakers, machine tool builders and general machinists. The program will take place at Herman High School in downtown Windsor during the afternoons and evenings. People enrolled in the program will spend 700 hours in school and 800 hours in local shops developing skills required to enter employment as registered apprentices.
