Sandretto has introduced the ES Series injection system, which promises almost all the benefits of an electro-mechanical system on a large injection molding machine, but at a significantly lower cost premium. The ES Series injection units are optional on Mega T and Mega H models.

Using a new “high level hybrid” design, a machine equipped with the ES injection unit operates essentially as an all-electric by using only AC servo motors to drive fixed displacement pumps. The result is a machine that operates like an all-electric, using a fluid drive train system that Sandretto calls FluiDrive.

According to the company, the electric servo drives control movements with the resolution one would expect from electro-mechanical (all-electric) machines. In addition, an ES machine uses less than 50% of the energy of a conventionally-powered hydraulic machine.

The electric screw drive allows screw/mold overlap without the loss of screw rotation speed. This overlapping capability can also serve to improve melt quality on heat sensitive materials or increase output when required.
