Plastics firms among Ontario Export Awards winners

Canadian Plastics Plastics ProcessesGreenMantra Recycling Technologies Ltd. won the Clean Technology Award, and PolyCorp Ltd. won the Leadership Award.
Two plastics-related firms are among the companies selected as winners of the 2017 Ontario Export Awards.
Brantford, Ont.-based GreenMantra Recycling Technologies Ltd. won the Clean Technology Award. GreenMantra is a specialty chemical company that produces a variety of waxes and chemicals using recycled waste plastics such as grocery bags and plastic film. While focused mainly on the U.S. market, the company is experiencing phenomenal export growth and broadening its horizons to include Europe and India.
And PolyCorp Ltd., which is headquartered in Elora, Ont., won the Leadership Award. Polycorp designs and manufactures engineered elastomeric polymer products that protect against corrosion, abrasion, impact, noise and vibration problems in the rail, mining and industrial segments.
Nine other companies were selected from a competitive field of more than 25 finalists to earn Ontario Export Awards in other categories ranging from Transportation Equipment and Leadership to Services to Emerging Exporter. The winner of the top prize, the Exporter of the Year Award, was Mississauga, Ont.-based Cyclone Manufacturing Inc., which builds aircraft components for the world’s largest plane makers, including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier and Lockheed Martin.
The awards were presented at a gala at Mississauga, Ont.’s International Centre on Nov. 21.
