eMachineShop.com, which bills itself as an on-line factory, enables a company or individual to design, price and order any mechanical part on-line. "eMachineShop is an innovative solution offering the easiest, most cost-effective way to turn ideas into real 3D parts at both prototype and production quantities," says the company’s president Jim Lewis.
In its first six months of operation, eMachineShop handled more than 1000 orders, and produced parts for electronic panels, enclosures, scientific devices, car and motorcycle parts, ocean buoys and sensor mechanics.
Through its contracts with shops around the world, eMachineShop currently offers CNC milling, turning, punching, laser cutting, plastic extrusion, thermoforming, water jet cutting, wire EDM and injection molding.
To design their custom parts, users download eMachineShop’s free CAD software. During the design phase, an automated machining expert analyses the shape, material and finish to keep the user informed of any physical limitations, making it easy for engineers and non-technical people to supply parts.
eMachineShop is a subsidiary of Micro Logic, a privately-held technology organization located in Midland Park, NJ.
