German-based electronics and controls manufacturer, Siemens, has announced the launch of a major new integrated, industrial safety program. Siemens Canada senior vice-president Guenter Bracheis said the initiative was in response to a paradigm shift in industrial technology and called it "the most comprehensive program available from any source today".
Bracheis said that program will advance movement away from mechanical to electronic devices in the area of machinery safety. The Siemens integrated safety program product offering is a comprehensive collection of control devices, PLCs, fieldBus systems, CNC controls and drives. These can be configured into Totally Integrated Automation (TIA), which facilitates the merger of mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems with electronics.
