Borealis A/S has announced new plans to increase its production capacity of cross-linked polyethylene by 50% by the end of 1Q 2003. The new capacity is in response to the continuing increase in global demand for cross-linked polyethylene materials for high voltage and extra high voltage power cables. The added capacity is to be phased in throughout 2002 at the company’s production plant in Stenungsund facility in Sweden. Borealis’ cross-linked polyethylene is used as insulating materials in high-stress, electrical cabling systems operating at 400kV and higher.
