Milacron, Consolidated Container partner for low-weight milk jugs

The Uniloy business of Milacron Holdings Corp. is partnering with rigid plastic packaging supplier Consolidated Container Co. to develop a new, lower-weight family of milk jugs, in gallons, half-gallon, and other sizes.

Called Dura-Lite, the jugs are said by Milacron to offer improved strength, consumer appeal and compatibility with the supply chain. Milacron also said the container has radiuses, symmetrical ribs and angles that work together to reduce weight without sacrificing bottle performance or aesthetics.

Dura-Lite containers will be available on retail shelves by early 2016. Because of an exclusivity agreement between Milacron and Consolidated Container, Dura-Lite containers are available only through Consolidated Container, which is headquartered in Atlanta, Ga.

Milacron is based in Blue Ash, Ohio.
