Injection machine supplier Sumitomo Demag has concluded an agreement with automation manufacturer Sepro Robotique for Demag to fit Sepro robots as a standard automation package.

The agreement, signed in June 2009, is specifically for Sepro’s SDR series of six three-axis robots to be offered on the Systec and IntElect injection machines from 35 to 2,000 tons clamping force.

According to a press release, the SDR robots will communicate with the Demag machines through the Euromap 67 interface.

Sumitomo Demag said that the intention is to fully integrate the Sepro Visual 2 control system in Demag’s NC5 control system in the future.

Sumitomo Demag is based in Schwaig, Germany. Sumitomo Plastics Machinery (America), LLC, is headquartered in Norcross, Ga., while Demag Plastics Group Corp. is based in Strongsville, Ohio. France-based Sepro has North American headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa.
