Sunroof ring has enhanced price/performance properties

Webasto Sunroofs, Inc. has chosen Montell Hivalloy G alloy for its AirOne Inbuilt Sunroof series. The 35 percent glass-reinforced resin replaces aluminum and reinforced nylon in the automotive application, eliminating the welding, shaping and painting needed for metal assemblies. Sunroof components experience extreme sun and weather exposure, and as a result require excellent UV resistance. Webasto determined that traditional nylon-reinforced plastic rings were susceptible to warpage, bending and fading at the extremes of sun and temperature exposure. The Hivalloy rings are produced in a one-step injection process with no secondary assembly process required.
