Hi-Lite Sparkle Colors are the new line of extra-large special effect pigments from Englehard Corporation. They increase the visual impact of plastics and coatings by providing luster and glitter. New iron-oxide-coated, mica-based pigments are a part of the Mearlin pigment line and come in six colors — gold, orange, red, violet, blue and green. Other grades in the line allow formulators to create metallic effects with a nonmetallic pigment in four shades — brass, bronze, copper russet and blue russet.

The Sparkle Colors are inert powders with an average particle size of 47 microns. They are non-tarnishing, and disperse readily in many media. They can be used in most plastic processes from injection molding and extrusion to casting and blow-molding. In coatings, they work well in many water-based and solvent-based industrial formulations. They can also be used safely in food-packaging and other food-contact applications.
