The French company Corelco has launched a new concept for the extrusion of in-line, pre-assembled twin sheathing incorporating smooth cross-linked polyethylene (PEX) tubes. The piping system is produced by extruding two corrugated sheaths simultaneously around smooth PEX-type tubes and bonding them together by means of a discontinuous longitudinal segment of material. This makes it possible to split them, if required, and provide a ready-to-use product.

The system allows installers of hot-water floor heating systems to significantly reduce installation time. The plastic sheathing has also been used with pre-inserted electrical wires for housing construction.
