Our very own Canadian Plastics Directory and Buyers’ Guide lists over 70 suppliers of recycled material. Simply find the raw materials section and flip to the materials index at the back of the section. You’ll find a list of recycled materials suppliers on page 119 of this year’s (2000) directory.

Also, you will soon be able to search for recycled materials and suppliers on our redesigned Web site (www.canplastics.com). We hope to have full on-line search capabilities of the directory up and running this fall.

Other recycling-related Web sites include: www.recycle.net (an international site for buying, selling and trading recycled materials), www.plastics.ca/epic (searchable North American database of buyers and sellers of recycled material), www.plastics.org (an on-line plastics magazine with an above-average recycling section) and www.plasticsresource.com (a site with a concise recycling section and lots of links)

Another valuable resource for recycling markets and pricing is the Plastics Recycling Update. This is a newsletter published in Oregon. The web site for this newsletter is www.resource-recycling.com.

New equipment makes recycling easier than ever

Erema North America demonstrated at this year’s NPE for the first time in North America the new KAG 600/50 Continuous Agglomerator (densifier) featuring the system’s live edge trim capabilities. The KAG 600/50 employs the same proven densifier technology used in Erema recycling systems. The centrifugal action of the densifier cutting knives size reduces, warms and continuously feeds the material to the discharger extruder, which is tangentially connected to the densifier. The system continuously produces densified pellet-like material and eliminates water quenching and costly power peaks. Additionally, the 600/50 is able to effectively handle “live” edge trim, accelerating, slowing and shutting down according to the rate of material available.

Merritt Extruder’s Polycycle 6 in. , 36:1 water-cooled reclaim extruder is capable of 3500 lb./hr. of throughput. The Polycycle comes with a 600 hp drive package and features a Merritt ram stuffer which incorporates numerous new designs for extremely effective and efficient feeding. The water cooling system on the Polycycle extruder has oversized heat exchangers and a closed-loop system designed for high output. Polycycle extruders are also available with air cooling.

The Linder Recycling N 1500 shredder comes with a milling rotor, low-wear guideless push feed system that prevents jamming of material and a transversal rotor feed system. A front swivel door enables easy access to the cutting chamber and rotor. The cutter block is inset into the rotor and easily exchanged.

The Plastics Group has redesigned and updated its resin identification set, ResinKit. The kit provides samples and technical information on over 50 of the most common thermoplastic materials. ResinKit sells for US$195.00 plus shipping and handling.
