Ice Chest Express from Canadian Thermos is the first cooler to feature a fold-out table and an integrated shock-cord, along with oversized wheels for consumer convenience. At 60 quarts, this cooler also has the largest injection-molded cooler liner in North America.
Canadian Thermos selected polypropylene from Montell Polyolefins to mold the liner. An economically attractive alternative to the polystyrene which is usually used in these applications, Montell’s Pro-fax SD802N high-flow, high-impact copolymer resin offers excellent cold impact resistance, good stiffness/impact balance and UV stabilizer compatibility.
The polypropylene offers improved economics because of the specific gravity advantage (0.9 vs 1.1 for PS) and potential for improved cycle times, says Stuart Kerman, account manager, Montell.
