It seems everybody wants a piece of the thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) market. Here are some recent highlights:

New thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) compounds based on Engage polyolefin elastomers from DuPont Dow Elastomers will be jointly developed by DuPont Dow Elastomers and PolyOne Corp. PolyOne will manufacture and market these products under the ELASTAMAX product line as a new series called EG 9000. They will be available in extrusion and molding grades in Shore A hardness ranges from 65 to 90.

Solvay Engineered Polymers has formed a strategic alliance to market and sell Thermoplastic Rubber Systems’ NexPrene thermoplastic vulcanizates (TPV). Solvay will have exclusive rights to market and distribute NexPrene to the global automotive industry, except in Asia. It will have non-exclusive rights in other industries and in Asia’s automotive sector.

ExxonMobil Chemical has finalized the acquisition of Advanced Elastomer Systems, buying out its partner in the venture, Solutia Inc. Combining the two product families gives ExxonMobil a broad range of ethylene elastomer resins, which includes AES’s Santoprene brand.
