Blow molding control boasts three modes of shoot/fill control

Operator-friendly PC connectivity is combined with functions for optimal machine and parison control in Davis-Standard’s new Maco 6500RS control system. The Maco 6500RS is standard on new Davis-Standard machines, and can be retrofit to Davis-Standard or other brands.

One of the primary advantages of the Maco 6500RS is its three modes of synchronous shoot/fill control. These include a synchronized parison drop via the lead head; synchronized parison drop via shoot time; and manual individual head control.

The system also features a “delay to shoot” function which allows the parsion push-out on one head to be delayed, which can be useful when running two heads with a significant shot size differential. The control system has Windows 2000 Pro Ethernet capability, adaptive extruder speed control and digital on-demand heater amp scan.

Screw polishing system saves labor

A portable screw polishing system developed by General Plastex for in-plant use is dramatically faster than older methods of screw polishing. The portable unit can be set-up at the machine site, to reduce downtime.

Various models can accommodate virtually every size of screw, and the system can be disassembled for storage.

The system is shipped with coarse, medium and fine polishing belts, magnetic work light, live centre with accessories, employee face shield, a flight bridge for taking screw measurements and an air powered die/grinder with Scotch Bright wheels.

Hopper slide on extruder eliminates spills

Diamond America has added an easy-close hopper slide on all of its single-screw extruders. The hopper slide is used to stop the flow of materials to the extruder screw during set-up, change-over or shut down.

The hopper slide is positioned between the feed throat of the extruder and the hopper. It has an auxiliary material channel that directs excess material into the barrel of the extruder, rather than onto the floor.
