The United States’ economy took off in the third quarter, growing at 7.2%, the highest growth rate in nearly two decades. The growth was fueled by higher consumer spending, as well as long-delayed corporate spending. The third quarter growth helped push the U.S. economy past the $11 trillion mark for the first time history. The high growth of the third quarter follows growth of 3.3% in the second quarter. The unexpected growth is prompting economists to revise their forecasts upward for the final three months of the year.
