TricorBraun buys B.C.-based flexible packager Taipak
The purchase is TricorBraun’s first move into the flexible packaging industry.
Taipak Enterprises Ltd., a flexible packaging supplier headquartered in Richmond, B.C., has been acquired by packaging solutions provider TricorBraun for an undisclosed amount.
In a statement, TricorBraun described the purchase as a “true milestone” – the first time in its 100-year history that it has entered the flexible packaging industry. “It’s a move that significantly increases our product offering and capabilities,” Keith Strope, TricorBraun’s executive chairman, said in the statement.
Strope said that Taipak will be renamed Taipak, A TricorBraun Company. Taipak’s current owners Joey Lin and Charanjit Hayre will continue to manage the business.
Founded in 2003, Taipak manufactures boxes, pouches, and bags, mainly for customers in the food industry. Along with its facility in Richmond, the company has offices in Toronto and Calgary.
Headquartered in Missouri, TricorBraun has more than 40 operations in North America, Europe, and Asia.
