T1 Automotive to build new U.S. plant

Automotive fuel systems supplier T1 Automotive will build a $30 million plant in Lavonia, GA to supply fuel tank systems for BMW vehicles made at the OEM’s Spartanburg, S.C. facility. The plant is planned to be in operation by spring 2005, according to a report published in Automotive News. The 145,000 sq. ft. facility will also supply fuel tanks for an unspecified Asian automaker. The company projects that as many as 350,000 fuel tank systems will be produced at the plant by 2006.
