Toronto-based processor Norseman Plastics has opened a new 68,000-square-foot manufacturing facility near Orlando, Fl.

The facility is located in Poinciana Office & Industrial Park, 20 miles south of Orlando.

“We wanted to establish a presence in the Southeast and were drawn to Central Florida where we already do a great deal of business and see the potential for much more,” said Mario Cantin, Norseman’s vice president of manufacturing, in an interview with the Orlando Sentinel.

According to Cantin, Norseman plans to create 40 to 50 new jobs in the next 18 months.

The company manufactures packaging and handling applications for food service, beverage, meat processing, and agricultural customers, as well as recycling and environmentally friendly products for homes. Among its largest products are plastic beverage trays for soft drink bottles, milk crates and bread trays used by companies delivering those products to supermarkets and grocery stores.
