Auxiliary equipment supplier Maguire Products, Inc., based in Aston, PA, has filed suit against Comet Automation Systems, Inc. (Dayton, OH) alleging patent infringement and unfair competition in connection with a small-volume gravimetric blender of the type Maguire Products manufacturers and markets under the trademark MicroBlender.
The suit alleges that a blender sold by Comet, the GraviMix Micro blender, infringes U.S. Patents issued in 2000 and 2002 to Maguire Products’ MicroBlender product. The suit was issued June 4 in a U.S. District court in Dayton, OH.
Maguire Products promotes its MicroBlender gravimetric blender as one of the smallest gravimetric blenders available on the market. The company says approximately 2,159 MicroBlenders are in commercial use around the world. An official reached at Comet declined to comment on the suit. In Canada, Maguire is presented by Nucon Wittmann Inc.
