Tier One automotive supplier Magna International (Aurora, ON) has donated US$100,000 to the Canadian Red Cross to provide relief for victims of the earthquake and tsunami in South Asia.
Announcing the donation, Frank Stonach, chairman of the board of Magna International, stated, "This disaster is truly global in scale. All of us are affected, and the least we can do, as individuals and companies, is to join hands with others in providing cash to feed and care for the people whose lives have been devastated."
Many other Canadian corporations have announced donations for disaster relief as well, including the Canadian Auto Workers union. CAW is donating $150,000 to the Canadian Red Cross for relief efforts, and CAW Local 444 in Windsor, ON, has donated $25,000 to the Red Cross.
