Dow Chemical Company has selected Montreal-based C.P.F. Dualam Inc. as a recipient of a Fabricator Excellence Award for Derakane resins. The awards are given to the fabricators of outstanding projects that used the Derakane line of epoxy vinyl ester resins.
C.P.F. Dualam received the award for the fabrication of a dual-laminate dechlorination tower used by a company in Venezuela. The tower measures 14 ft. at the base and stands more than 61 ft. tall. It replaced an existing rubber-lined steel unit that was in deteriorating condition because of corrosion.. The new unit is designed to remove hot chlorine gases present in the brine following the electrolysis process. The FRP laminate was made via hand lay up using Derakane Momemtum 441-400 with a glass fabric-backed FEP thermoplastic liner made Symalit.
Dow also presented awards to Tampico S.A. de C.V. of Mexico and W. Brandt Goldsworthy & Associates of California.
