The Quebec section of the Canadian Plastics Industry Association recognized the achievements of three companies at its annual awards dinner and gala in Montreal April 17.
The Galea Award for Exports went to Canplast Inc., a Montreal-based manufacturer of PVC furniture liners. The company’s business has been growing at a rate of 30% a year.
The Galea Award for Best Small- to Medium-size Enterprise was given to Plastiques GPR, St.-Felix de Valois, QC. Founded by Pierre Belleville, the company is a custom injection molder.
The Galea Award for Innovation was presented to Pelican International. The Quebec company was recognized for its twin sheet molding process that improves quality and reduces production time of its line of kayaks and pedal boats.
Additionally, the Galea award for Outstanding Career and Contribution was given to Mr. Reuben Spector of NOVA Corporation. Spector is widely known around Quebec as “Mr. Polyethylene”
