Laurie Higgins, director of councils and issues with the Canadian Plastics Industry Association (CPIA), has left the organization effective December 1, 2006, and accepted a position as quality manager with Orillia, Ont.-based packaging provider Pliant Corporation.
“Laurie has been a tireless and enthusiastic professional[who] helped invigorate many of the councils and groups she worked with and spearheaded many new initiatives along the way,” the CPIA said in a statement. “She’ll be missedbut we wish her well. The search for Laurie’s replacement will begin immediately.”
Higgins assumed her position with the CPIA in October 2005. For 14 years prior to that, she had worked for GSW Building Products.
