Switzerland-based specialty chemicals company Clariant International Ltd. is building a new masterbatches plant in Sydney, Australia.

Construction is currently underway, Clariant said in a statement, and the plant is expected to be commissioned by the end of 2014. No details about the costs of the project have been released.

“Asia Pacific region is one of Clariant’s focal areas for future development,” Mathias Lütgendorf, a member of Clariant’s executive team, said in the statement. “The new Australian masterbatches plant will support our masterbatches business to grow and to increase its customer service focus in the region.”
