A fire has destroyed the Beauharnois, Que.-based paper and plastics recycling plant of Kruger Inc.
As reported by the Canadian Press, the fire broke out early March 11 and has produced a thick plume of smoke that can be seen several kilometres away.
The plant is located south of Montreal, in the Greater Montreal Area.
The local fire department appealed to neighbouring municipalities for assistance to battle the blaze, which was fanned by strong winds.
There was no indication of any injuries.
In a statement, the forest products company said the plant consists of a 65,000 square-foot warehouse that recycles paper and plastic and various other products.
