The goal is to encourage best practices and new opportunities for suppliers in Canada’s two largest manufacturing provinces.

Aéro Montréal, Québec’s aerospace cluster, has signed a framework collaboration agreement with its counterpart in Ontario, the Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC).

The agreement aims to establish a special relationship between the two aerospace clusters and increase information exchange regarding innovation and optimization of the supply chain.

According to Suzanne M. Benoît, president of Aéro Montréal, the collaboration will provide many benefits to Québec’s aerospace industry. “We strongly believe there is good potential for sharing information on our sector’s challenges and best practices, especially with regards to the development of business opportunities and the internationalization of SMEs,” she said in a statement. “Our goal is to develop a system of collaboration between our two organizations on various projects and implement cross membership. We want to foster a better structured network among Ontario and Québec SMEs by creating a true link between our two regions.”

“OAC is delighted to be strengthening its business relationship with Aéro Montréal which will allow our respective members to enjoy a wider range of benefits,” said Moira Harvey, Executive Director of the OAC. “This strategic collaboration agreement will provide a solid base for SMEs in the Toronto-Montréal corridor to develop their collaboration processes and their opportunities for growth.”

Harvey said this collaboration could help to foster new opportunities for Québec suppliers in Ontario.

Aéro Montréal is a strategic think tank that groups all the major decision makers in Québec’s aerospace sector, including companies, educational and research institutions, associations and unions, to mobilize industry players and foster the growth and expansion of the cluster.

The Ontario Aerospace Council (OAC) is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation governed by a Board of Directors representing all segments of the Ontario aerospace industry.
