Toronto-based specialty packager CCL Industries Inc. is investing $30 million to expand its label division – called CCL Label DES – in Clinton, S.C.

The 36,000-square footage addition will be made to the company’s existing facility. The investment is expected to create 98 new jobs over the next five years. The Clinton, S.C. site supports customers globally with highly engineered component products and Industry award-winning printing for the electronics, automotive, consumer battery, and beverage markets

“This project is a result of our growing global businesses in a number of important expanding markets,” said Al Green, VP of technology development with CCL. “The Clinton site, its management team and the skilled and reliable workforce, made it an easy decision to help grow the Southern U.S. corridor for many of the products we manufacture globally, and to leverage the unique capabilities of the Clinton site.”

A majority of the construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2015, CCL said in a statement.

Founded in 1951, CCL is said to be the world’s largest converter of pressure-sensitive and extruded film materials for decorative, instructional and functional applications. The company employs approximately 10,400 people and operates 99 production facilities in 28 countries on five continents, with corporate offices in Toronto and Framingham, Mass. CCL also sells extruded and laminated plastic tubes, folded instructional leaflets, precision printed and die cut metal components with LED displays and other complementary products and services.
