Spartech Corporation, a U.S. supplier of polymeric compounds, concentrates, custom extruded sheet and rollstock products, has opened a new 90,000-square-foot technology centre.

Spartech Corporation, a U.S. supplier of polymeric compounds, concentrates, custom extruded sheet and rollstock products, has opened a new 90,000-square-foot technology centre.

Located in Maryland Heights, Mo., the US$6 million facility is designed to put several of the Clayton, Mo.-based firm’s capabilities in one location.

According to Spartech, the new facility combines technical and market development resources and a number of employees relocating from former product development and material science centers in Indiana and Pennsylvania. The facility includes compounding, extrusion and thermoforming development lines; physical, analytical, weathering and burn testing capabilities;sustainable packaging design equipment; and capabilities to conduct life cycle analysis of the environmental footprint of all Spartech products.

“The Maryland Heights center makes extensive use of both sunlight and energy-efficient electrical lighting contains areas where customers and Spartech scientists, technology and marketing experts, design engineers and commercial development engineers can work alongside each other to find new ways of creating sustainable product solutions with less impact on the environment,” the company said in a statement.
