The American Council on Science and Health has completed its comprehensive review of scientific literature regarding the phthalates DEHP and DINP frequently used in flexible PVC medical devices and toys, and found that these plasticizers pose no threat.
“Consumers can be confident that vinyl toys and medical devices are safe,” says Dr. C. Everett Koop, chairman of the ACSH panel. “There is no scientific evidence that they are harmful to children or adults.”
