A thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV) from Teknor Apex is being used to make the teal-green soft-touch handle grip on the new Comfi-grip Professional steam iron manufactured by Morphy Richards Ltd. According to Russel Gordon, senior design engineer for Morphy Richards, Uniprene TPV elastomer provides better colorability and more pleasing tactile properties, both of which impart a luxurious feel to the handle of this high-end appliance.

The colorful grip is overmolded of Uniprene TPV onto a high-impact polypropylene handle without need for adhesives or bonding agents by a molder based in Hong Kong. The molder has noted the Uniprene offers several processing benefits, including excellent moldability and elimination of pre-drying steps required with conventional TPVs.
