Defibtech LLC (Guilford, CT) is using thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) from GLS Corporation (McHenry, IL) in its Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). The TPEs give Defibtech’s AEDs a more rugged look-and-feel in both its Lifeline and ReviveR products. This includes greater protection against dropping and a simplified molding of a “grippy” out TPE material for the handle and grip areas on the outer body.

“We wanted to develop a new product with a unique look and since it was to be a hand-held unit for medical lifesaving applications, it had to be small, yet durable and extreamly ‘grippable,'” said Giovanni Meier, vice-president of engineering for Defibtech.
