Survey: Moldmaking in Canada

Companies from across Canada participated in the Canadian Plastics Industry Association’s fifth survey of Canada’s moldmaking industry.

The association states that information in the labor survey helps moldmakers and molders with in-house tool shops to understand the labor market and retain employees.

The full report is for sale through CPIA, but here are a few tidbits:

50% of respondents utilize an 8hr. shift.

25% of respondents utilize a 10 hr. shift.

75% of companies do not rotate shifts.

Group life insurance is paid in full by 70% of respondents.

29% of firms have profit-sharing plans for their employees.

2nd year apprentices average $13.40/hr. in Ontario.
